Styling a cozy harvest mantel
Every October we each dress our mantels for fall, and every October we end up doing almost the same thing. Here is the recipe we keep coming back to.
Start with light
Group candles at different heights. A beeswax pillar dressed with an amber bead candle ring, a few amber glass tea light holders and one barn lantern give you warm light at every level.
Add one hero piece
Choose a single piece that draws the eye, like an amber glass pumpkin or a raw amber specimen on its stand. Place it a little off center so the arrangement feels collected rather than staged.
Drape and soften
A garland of glass leaves or a strand of dried flowers ties everything together. Let one end trail over the edge of the mantel.
Finish with something personal
A music box, an old photograph or a basket of apples from the market makes the mantel yours. Fall decorating should feel like home, not like a showroom.
